I thought of Darmy when I read this book, because I think her boys would love it if they haven't already read it.
This is the first of a series of books. The 5th or 6th one is coming out in a few weeks or just came out.
Basically, Percy Jackson is a "troubled" boy who really isn't troubled... things just happen to him and he gets in trouble. He goes to a new school every few months, usually not even lasting a full year. Then he discovers that he is actually a demigod. His mother is mortal, but his father is one of the Olympians. (Which Olympian fathers him is a mystery in the first half of the book.) He has Hades after him for some reason, sending the Furies and various demons and monsters to kill him and other demigods, so he is sent to a special summer camp to learn critical skills.
It was a fabulous book and I am dying to get my hands on the next one in the series. My 10 year old nephew has the first three books (but can't find the second one at the moment) so I am just waiting. He got the 4th one from the library and the 5th one is coming out soon. He loves these books, and is very excited to read them.
